My Story

Hi, my name is Karen.

I am an experienced NZ qualified Primary teacher and private maths tutor with

14 years experience across students aged 6 to 13 years.

As a child I really struggled with Maths.  There were a lot of tears and tummy aches!

I understand what you and your child are going through because I have been there

myself - and come out the other side.  I know the difference that patiently working on the basics in creative and fun ways can make to overwhelmed children.

As a teacher I see many Primary age children struggling to keep up and becoming anxious about Maths.  If they have not had time to grasp basic concepts then they quickly get left behind and are forever trying to play catch up.  Seeing their struggles upset me and that is why I first became a private tutor.

Spending one on one time with each student meant they really opened up to me and told me what they were thinking. In many cases there are some deep routed misconceptions about some basic Maths concepts, which it is almost impossible to recognise in a class situation, and which explain many children's struggles later on.  I have developed ways of exploring these and overcoming them through fun games and activities.  Now I am ready to share them with you so you can help your child.

Private tutoring is expensive and often difficult to fit into busy family life.

An alternative is to support your child at home - but where do you even start?

As your child's parent/ carer there is so much you can do to support them, but knowing what will help is key.

Sign up for a workshop and learn how you can increase your child's Maths confidence, start having fun with Maths and laying down some basic foundations.

Your lucky child will have their own private Maths tutor - in the form of you!

I look forward to meeting you in person or virtually at one of my workshops soon.
